Let me re-imagine your precious kitty cat into a quilled masterpiece! This quilled coon cat portrait was created using a photo of the cat shown to the right as a reference. It's a fantastic way to memorialize a kitty who has crossed the rainbow bridge or even put your current cat on display. Cats are the most popular pet so it's easy to see why they are my most popular quilled item. And, let's face it, they looked great made with paper! This piece and another like it (see my Quilled Blue Cream Ragdoll Portrait) are made with 1/4" strips that are formed into spirals, coils, and crimped shapes for added fur-like texture. Matching colors and patterns is usually fairly straightforward, but in the end they are an approximation and not an exact duplicate.
The first quilled cat portrait I did was on a whim. I had a customer order a scrollwork cat but when she sent me the cat's photo I knew immediately I had to make it look more realistic. I forgot the cat's name but he had the most spectacular green eyes I've ever seen on a cat and was absolutely adorable. Well more than adorable; he was gorgeous. You can see the green-eyed beauty here.
