Quilled Gray Cat
This quilled gray cat was made for a woman who lives in the same town as me. She is gaga for her cats and the display she made for her two quillings was absolutely adorable. She sent me photos of her kitties so I could make these stylistic quilled cats look as similar as possible.
The quilled gray cat was hard to get close to the real thing because I couldn’t figure out how to give it a white mane without having to superimpose the quills. I was originally going to make both cats with 1/4″ quills (which I prefer for a more sophisticated and dense look), but it just wouldn’t work with the mane. So, I dug out my 1/8″ paper and put the white mane on top of the black “body” quill. Her kitties eyes were also quite a bit more narrowly spaced than a siamese, so this is represented in this quilling.
She wanted the first siamese cat I ever made, but I created a new one for her because I had since switched background papers and wanted to give her the highest quality product possible.
