I didn't intend to make a quilled rainbow rooster abstract today, but it happened. 🙂 In fact, what I'd struck out to do was use up some scraps I had leftover from making my latest batch of quilled mini rainbow spirals. I thought that they'd look nice in a pinwheel pattern branching out in swoops and loops from a central dome. But as I was preparing to make the last few pieces I looked at it and thought "that looks just like a rooster!" So instead of making more pieces I made a beak instead.
I've always loved roosters. My mother collects them - and practically everyone else I know. I even enjoy keeping chickens around the yard, though the past few years we have been a fowl-free property. I did get a new chicken coop last year so it's about time to introduce a new flock to the homestead.
I have framed this rooster and place him on my Etsy shop if you're interested in owning him. If anything, he's a very unique take on a common collectible animal.
