Quilled Targaryen Sigil
I’ve been hooked on the Game of Thrones books since a friend of ours suggested we read them several years back. My husband and I read them together so we could talk about them. We even had a few reading races where he’d get ahead of me and gloat, then I’d get ahead of him and gloat. It was fun and amazing and I don’t think any other book series could ever compare to these. My only fear is that George R. R. Martin is going to kick the bucket before he finishes them off. I have so many unanswered questions and time is ticking. Come on, George, get busy! 🙂
Anyways, I always planned to do a sigil, I just never got around to it. The other night I asked my husband which one he liked the best and he said “Targaryen.” Though I love the dragon sigil, I love the Stark family. They have true grit. I planned this as a quad: four sigils framed in a paned shadowbox frame. I’m thinking the other three will be Stark, Lannister, and one other. The last one I’m undecided on. I like Baratheon because of the stag, but others seem more important to the story line. Who knows, maybe I’ll break down and do all the major ones and instead of a quad it’ll be a long row of sigils, LOL.
This was made with – GASP – 1/8″ paper strips. I know. What on earth possessed me to use 1/8″? Well, it was mostly the compression factor. I like the long thin slivers you can create with the thinner paper.
I didn’t do anything special, just created coils and shaped them as necessary to form the dragons.
I hope you enjoyed my latest project!
