I was recently given the honor of being interviewed for a feature article on Ann Martin’s blog All Things Paper. It was the first time someone has actually discussed my artwork with me in a more formal setting and I have to say it was both exciting and uplifting. Please visit Ann’s blog or her Facebook page and browse her articles to get to know more about a variety of other amazing paper artists.
It was only a few short months ago was at a low point in my art career. I was actually considering putting away my quilling tool for good. I was feeling as though my art went unnoticed among other things. It was a difficult decision to keep creating, though one I am glad of today. It was worth it to keep moving forward regardless of how conflicted I was feeling.
Now a new year has begun and I have a renewed enthusiasm for my artwork. For some reason the doldrums of the fall have been replaced with a head full of ideas that I want to try out. I cannot wait to create my next project and the next and the next….
I think the reason I was able to turn the corner was because of people like Ann. It’s really the people that make it worth it. The ones who care enough to click on a post, especially the ones who leave a comment. It’s the experience of knowing that something I’ve created has touched someone enough that they are compelled to take action even in some small way.
So thank you Ann and everyone out there that has given me the encouragement I’ve needed to continue creating!
